5 Easy Ways to Freshen Up Your Space

There are so many small changes to freshen up your space that make a big impact and don’t cost a lot of money (or any at all!)  We all get stuck in a rut of looking at the same things day in and day out in our home but every once in awhile it’s good to mix it up a little. I am guilty of doing this on a weekly basis so I work every angle I can! I’ll let you in on my little secret on the easiest way to do this….have a common theme throughout your home. If each room compliments the next one with similar colors and textures, it makes it so easy to switch things up between rooms by pulling a pillow from your bedroom into the living room or moving a favorite piece of art from one room to the next. I don’t mean for every room to look alike. That would be boring! But just have a general color scheme that transitions well. Aside from that, here are a few things you can do on a budget to freshen up your happy place.

01. ACCENT PILLOWS

If you could see my happy dance right now you would laugh. I. LOVE. PILLOWS! They are so easy and there are so many to choose from! If you are a symmetrical person, then have your pillows match. If you are a more whimsical person, mix it up with texture, sizes and patterns.

02. FRESHEN UP THE BATH

In a bathroom, buy new towels and a new shower curtain. Take down the old decor that you haven’t liked in years and freshen it up with something new and more interesting. Definitely take your space into consideration when purchasing wall decor for the bathroom. Keep in mind how much moisture will be there or if you spray your hairspray in a certain spot that could overflow to the wall behind you. But new towels and mats can make your bath feel like a hotel spa. Oh and add a pretty candle or two.

03. BUY SOME BEDDING

A quick and easy change for the bedroom is fresh bedding! I like to look at Pinterest for ideas then recreate the look with items from Target, Pottery Barn or West Elm. I love white bedding in every room but I always buy items that can go in the wash. Keep the bedding neutral and then add a fun (bet you can guess) PILLOW!!

04. RUG IT UP

I almost love rugs as much as I do pillows!!! Again, there are so many to choose from in a huge range of prices. I bought an inexpensive rug at Home Goods last week to switch out in my powder bath and it just makes me smile when I go in there! Buy a pretty runner to put in front of your sink in the kitchen or bathrooms; replace a dated area rug in the living room or dining room or buy a fun one for the front door or patio. So many opportunities to use great rugs!

05. FLOATING SHELVES

My daughter’s both like to paint canvases and I wanted to have a fun yet aesthetically pleasing way to display them. So I purchased some floating shelves and layered in the art.Now it looks organized and fresh and adds so much personality to the room. It’s one of my favorite spots in the house! This would work great in a bedroom, playroom or even laundry room.I have always felt like the laundry room was my domain so I enjoy having some of their crafts in there.
